GAC ATTACK ON HOME SOIL
South Australian State Championships Round 1
It
was a perfect weekend results-wise for us at Mallala at
the first round of the SA State Championships. Pole position,
followed by 3 race wins and 3 fastest laps was a fantastic
way to start the championship.
Friday was an intensive test day for us with Alan and
Graham from GAC and we achieved a lot, getting the car
to handle how they would expect in the UK.
Qualifying was shortened by a red flag when a car greeted
the concrete on pit wall exiting turn 2. I managed to
post a solid time early so I was reasonably happy going
into the races.
I struggled early in all the races, mainly due to 3
poor starts, which dropped me to 2nd going into the
first corner. The GAC has unbelievable mid corner grip
and I was able to pass quickly back into the lead and
pull away in each race.
The lap times we did were ok, but still not were I'd
like to see them. Now we have a month break before our
next test day, we will start our engine development
program and also continue to develop the suspension
setup on the car.
Thanks as always to my team; Dad, Mum, Kev, Leon, and
Tommo, Alan and Graham from GAC for spending the last
2 race meeting helping us, Cartek, Duplex IT and Drive
to Live for their continued support.
